Small Bathroom renovation from dirty and dated to pretty in pink!

Hello from chilly Michigan! Today I am sharing the renovation of the small bathroom renovation we did at the Airbnb. This tiny bathroom was one of the grossest parts of the property when we bought it. See how we took it from dirty and dated to a pretty, pink space that fits the home beautifully.

First a little backstory. We bought a foreclosed/distressed property at an auction sight unseen. You can see the entire renovation here. The day we got the keys to the house this is what the bathroom looked like. Hold on to your hats….this is pretty gross.

Ewwwww…..told you it was dirty.

I like to start a new projects with a mood board. It helps keeps me on track- which is a good thing because I can veer off quickly at the sight of sparkly objects. :) I think we changed up a few things but stayed pretty close. I LOVED the shower curtain below but when it arrived it was way too short!

We did run into some mold so we basically had to gut the space except for the tub. We really wanted to keep the tub as it weighs a TON!

For the shower, I choose a classic white subway tile with a grey grout. We decided to run the tile to the ceiling to add some visual height.

The house is over 100 years old and I really wanted to keep the look clean and appropriate to the age of the house. I found a small cabinet sink combo in a light grey at a big box store that I love.

I choose a penny tile for the floors as it was easy to install and works well with the Subway tile. I also used a grey grout to keep the continuity. I just adore the little flower pattern.

The best thing about these small bathrooms is that they come together pretty quickly. You can see below I am desperately trying to get that tub clean! All the elbow grease in the world wouldn’t have made it sparkle.

I ended up using Rust-oleum Tub and Tile refinishing kit kit to paint the tub. It turned out great and I’ll give an update in six months to let you know how it holds up!

I also added decals to the ceiling for a spot of color. I was worried that they wouldn’t stay in place above the shower but so far so good!!
