Home Office Update

Hello!

Happy October! It’s without a doubt my favorite time of the year. I love the cooler temps and changing colors that Fall brings. For the past couple of years Fall for me has also meant that it’s time for another round of The One Room Challenge™.

This will be my 4th round of participating in this biannual event. I am so excited for this round as I will be working on a Home office space for my Daughter and Son-in-law. Last year they bought the cutest 100 year old Bungalow in a suburb of Chicago. The two of them have spent many weekends and evenings working on making their new abode into a lovely home but after an entire year of projects have understandably run out of steam.

My SIL works from home and needs a functional work space (instead of working around unpacked boxes) and they of course want the space to be as beautiful as the rest of their home. I am thrilled they asked me to design it.

The vibe I am going for is:

BOTANICAL/MOODY/NERDY

Mid Century Modern Office Mood Board

The rest of the home has a mid century vibe so I want to keep that flow going. The room is 10 x 10 (so a small space) and currently holds unpacked boxes from the move and a too small desk area. They also have doors and windows on each wall to work around. My goal is to bring a larger work space as well as additional storage in. I’d also like cozy corner where my daughter and their furry family members can sit and keep him company.

I love the moulding on the windows.

The antenna taped to the wall will have to find a new home.

We have six weeks to complete the room and I will be doing most of the work on the weekends (that’s the exciting part).

On the list of things to be completed:

PAINT/ WALLPAPER

DIY DESK/ DIY SIDE TABLE

LIGHTING/ WINDOW TREATMENTS

GALLERY WALL/ STORAGE

READING NOOK

I hope you will follow along over the next six weeks to see our progress. I’d like to say thank you to The One Room Challenge™ and media sponsor BETTER HOMES & GARDENS.
