One Room Challenge Week Seven- all about the deets!

Wow- what a week this has been. I knew this One Room Challenge was going to be down to the wire but it is not out of the realm of possibility that I may be painting around my photographer next week!

We may not finish… but I love going through this process wilh fellow bloggers and seeing all the creativity and support. It is truly a community of my people.

Week 5 was canceled in order for the ORC to support #BLACKLIVESMATTER and allow Black voices in design to be amplified.

I spent this week double checking shipments of furniture (and a very good thing I did), planning out some accessories (using as much as possible from my own home) and running to the paint store- yet again.

I discovered the Sofa I originally ordered was not even close to making it on time. So I began a desperate search to find a replacement and after a frantic day found this at a local store (all of this was done via phone as I am also still practicing extreme social distancing). Three cheers for Talsma Furniture!

Mid Week the stress continued as staining the bar turned disastrous when the stain would not take. There seemed to be some sort of oily substance on some of the wood pieces that I had not noticed when we put the wood up. After a few trys and eventually spilling an entire can of stain down the front of myself (yes, there were tears- and hubby is still freaked out by the freakishly grey skin I am sporting). In the end I primed the wood and painted it Naval by Sherwin Williams who also deserve kudos for their expert knowledge and social distancing procedures. I am loving the Navy with the beautiful green tile.

Naval is Sherwin Williams color of the year for 2020.

Which brings me to another hero in this particular One Room Challenge. The Tile Shop. My neighborhood store had my back when I fell short on the tile I had on hand from a previous ORC project (see it here). I really wanted to run it all the way up to the ceiling and they were able order it for me and I picked it up without ever leaving my car! Nick, if you are reading this YOU ROCK!

Another thing I appreciated this week: My HANDy Paint tray. I’ve loved their paint pails forever but this guy was sturdy enough to save me from a major paint spill this week when I stepped backwards into it and it didn't tip over.
